21. John at Patmos: Revelation 7:57

"I was in the Spirit on the Lord's Day..."
Exiled on Patmos, John received the final and most sweeping vision of all: the throne in heaven and the restoration of all things.
His words closed the age of the prophets and opened the final chapter of history.

INTRO

"I, John...
Was on the island called Patmos...
For the word of God...
And the testimony of Jesus Christ.
I was... in the Spirit...
On the Lord's Day..."

VERSE 1

Behind me rang a thunder cry:
"What thou seest — write and testify."
Seven stars and burning eyes,
A throne of fire that splits the skies.

Elders wept and angels sang,
The halls of heaven sharply rang.
The Lamb appeared — the scroll was torn,
And all the seals were wrath reborn.

VERSE 2

Then I saw an angel rise,
With gospel truth that split the skies.
To every nation, tribe, and tongue,
He cried aloud with ancient lungs:

"Fear God...
And give Him glory,
For the hour of His judgment is come.
Worship Him
That made heaven, and earth,
And the sea,
And the fountains of waters."

VERSE 3

Babylon is fallen... is fallen...
That great city, drunk with pride.
She made all nations taste her wine,
And in her wrath they shall not hide.

If any man worship the beast,
And receive his mark upon his hand —
The same shall drink the wine of God,
His wrath poured out... not turned or spanned.

BRIDGE

Then I saw a crystal sea —
A new world dawned in front of me.
No more pain, no tear, no sword —
For God Himself would be their Lord.

The throne declared with thundered breath:
"No more sorrow. No more death.
Behold, I make all things anew —
The first and last... the faithful true."

OUTRO

"Blessed are they that do His commandments,
That they may have right to the tree of life,
And may enter in through the gates into the city."

"I am Alpha... and Omega...
The beginning... and the end..."

"I John, who also am your brother... was in the isle that is called Patmos, for the word of God, and for the testimony of Jesus Christ. Revelation 4:1–3:

"After this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in heaven: and the first voice which I heard was as it were of a trumpet talking with me; which said, Come up hither, and I will shew thee things which must be hereafter. And immediately I was in the spirit: and, behold, a throne was set in heaven, and one sat on the throne."
