The Story Behind the Album
Music and lyrics by Thomas J. Allen
Deliverance is a 14-track biblical symphonic metal concept album by Zephoniel. Its story enters the world of darkness and the spiritual battle faced by those called to drive it out. Possession takes hold, faith is tested, prayer becomes confrontation, and the ancient serpent is bound through the authority of Jesus Christ.
The final movement explores the silence after the conflict: survival, trauma, healing, and freedom that is neither simple nor cheaply won. The album closes with The Books Were Opened, a warning that every hidden thought, word, and deed will ultimately be brought before God.
“For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world.”
— Ephesians 6:12 (KJV)
“If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.”
— John 8:36 (KJV)
