Zephoniel – Rise From the Ruins
Persecution of The Saints
TRACK #8
By Thomas J. Allen, © 2025
Image: A solemn depiction of saints kneeling before executioners, their hands clasped in prayer, their eyes lifted toward Heaven. Behind them, churches burn, and crowds gather in silence — witnesses to a world that hates the righteous. A man is bound to a stake, fire at his feet, yet his face is resolved. The sword is drawn, the blood already shed, but the spirit remains unbroken. This is the path of the faithful — persecuted, but not forsaken. Their reward is not of this world.
Verse 1
The war was waged before the throne —
Now saints must suffer, stand alone.
The horn has risen with bloodstained pride,
And hunts the ones who will not hide.
Verse 2
The dragon's rage burns through the land —
He strikes the ones who take their stand.
The faithful few, the scarred and true —
Their only crime: they follow You.
Chorus
Persecution falls like rain —
Chains and fire, loss and pain.
But they endure with lifted eyes,
For crowns await beyond the skies.
Verse 3
Reviled, betrayed by friend and kin,
Yet still they walk — they will not bend.
Drunk with blood, the harlot laughs,
But Heaven sees the martyr's path.
Bridge
Blessed are those the world despises —
Their reward in Heaven rises.
The dragon roars, the beast prevails,
But even death — it cannot jail.
Final Chorus
Persecution carves the stone,
But truth stands firm, though left alone.
They overcame, they bore the flame,
And saints will rise in Jesus' name.
Outro
"Rejoice and be glad... for great is your reward in Heaven..."
"And the dragon went off... to make war with the saints..."
